General Removals FAQ
If you are planning a move, the questions usually arrive long before moving day. How does the quote work. What information do you need to give. What is included. Do you offer packing. Can you help with storage. What happens if the job takes longer than expected. These are the questions that shape whether the move feels clear and manageable or vague and stressful.
This General Removals FAQ brings together the questions people most often ask before booking, after booking and in the run-up to moving day. It covers home moves, flat moves, office removals, packing, storage, pricing, deposits, timing, access, insurance and what to expect from the process. The goal is to give direct answers without fluff, so you can understand how the move works and what affects it most.
If your question is not covered here, the easiest next step is to ask with the real details of your move. Most removals questions are easiest to answer properly once the property, contents, access and timing are clear.

Booking and quote questions
Most people start here because the first concern is usually how the move is priced and what information is needed. A better quote almost always comes from a fuller picture of the job rather than a rough guess.
How do I get a removals quote
You can ask for a quote by sending the move details and, where needed, arranging a phone discussion, video survey or in-person viewing. The more complete the information is, the more accurate the quote is likely to be.
What information do you need for an accurate quote
The most useful details are:
- collection and delivery addresses
- property type at both ends
- approximate amount being moved
- stairs and lift access
- parking arrangements
- whether you need packing
- whether you need storage
- fragile, awkward or high-value items
- furniture that may need dismantling
- preferred moving date or timeframe
FAQs
Yes. We can quote from all three, depending on what suits the move best.
Yes. The quote is sent by email so the details are clear.
As soon as you can. Even if your moving date is not fully confirmed yet, it is still worth starting the process early so the move can be planned properly.
Once the quote is accepted, a deposit invoice is issued. After the deposit is paid, the booking is placed into the calendar and the move preparation continues from there.
Service and move-type questions
Different moves need different levels of support, so it helps to be clear on what services are available and how the move can be shaped around the job itself.

Pricing and payment questions
Most pricing questions come down to what affects time, because time is one of the biggest drivers of removals cost.
Work is usually priced hourly, although fixed quotes are used in some cases depending on the job.

Move-day questions
A lot of nerves around removals come from not knowing what the day itself will look like. These are usually the questions that help customers feel clearer before the move begins.
Moves usually start around 8am to 9am unless a different time has already been agreed.
There is usually a walkthrough first, so the team can confirm what is moving, check access and agree the working plan before loading begins.
If you are self-packing, the property should be packed and ready to go. Parking or access arrangements should be sorted where relevant, and anything not moving should be clearly separated.
Accurate information, good packing, workable access, sensible parking arrangements and a clear idea of what is moving all make a noticeable difference.
The most common issues are missing information, poor access detail, parking problems, unfinished packing and extra contents not mentioned earlier.
The job continues and is dealt with on the day. That is one reason accurate information early on makes such a difference.
The situation is dealt with on the day, but it is always better to raise access concerns early so the move plan reflects them properly.
Office removals questions
Office moves often have a slightly different set of concerns because downtime, IT and internal coordination matter much more than they do on a typical home move.

Goods in transit cover is £50,000 per vehicle and public liability cover is £100,000,000.

If damage is up to £250, the company covers it directly. If damage is above that, the insurance route applies.

FAQs about choosing the right removals support
Some questions are not about one service detail. They are about how to decide what level of help the move needs.
Packing support is often worth considering if the move is larger than expected, the final week is busy, fragile items need more care, or you want the property ready before moving day without doing it all yourself.
Storage usually helps when dates do not line up, the new property is not ready, or not everything can go straight into the destination.
A survey is useful when the property, access or contents are harder to describe clearly in a short message.
The most important thing is giving a realistic picture of the move, including contents, access, parking, timing and any special requirements.
